The Erie County Economic Development Corporation Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony


Erie County, [08/10/2023] – The Erie County Economic Development Corporation hosted its Annual Meeting and Award Ceremony, a premier event celebrating the achievements and contributions of businesses, entrepreneurs, and community partners in driving economic growth and prosperity within Erie County. The event brought over 400 business leaders, government officials, and community stakeholders to celebrate the gains our community has made while collaborating on the work that still needs to be done.

The Annual Meeting and Award Ceremony is a testament to the collaborative spirit that fuels Erie County's economic progress. The event aims to recognize outstanding achievements, highlight innovation, and showcase the dedication of individuals and organizations that have played a vital role in shaping the local economy.


“The ECEDC annual meeting and awards ceremony is a chance for investors, stakeholders, government representatives, and community members to hear about how our organization supports economic growth in Erie County and to celebrate the achievements of area businesses who have benefited from the expertise of our staff.” said Andy Kurtz, President of the Erie County Economic Development Board.

Awards Presentation: The ceremony awarded:

Lake Erie Arms – Deal of the Year Award, The “Deal of the Year Award” recognizes a business that values Erie County as a strategic location.




Firelands Adventure Tour – Entrepreneur of the Year Award, The “Entrepreneur of the Year Award” recognizes individuals, companies or organizations that have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, outstanding business inspiration and ambition.





Cecily Brown, Executive Director of Cancer Services – Talon Flohr Young Professional of the Year Award. The “Talon Flohr Young Professional of the Year Award” recognizes an individual's outstanding contributions, engagement, and commitment to a brighter future in Erie County.




Andy Kurtz, BGSU Firelands – Visionary Leadership Award, The “Visionary Leadership Award” recognizes outstanding efforts in economic development.  This award is presented to a leader whose visionary contributions have broken social, political, or economic barriers, thereby opening doors and setting a new course for Erie County. 




Jeff Huber, Civista Bank – Lifetime Leadership Award, The “Lifetime Leadership Award” is presented to advocates who have made extraordinary contributions toward the vision of a vibrant Erie County over the course of their career. They have exemplified dedication, integrity and honorable service to our community.




Networking Opportunities: Attendees connected with fellow business professionals, industry experts, and government officials, fostering new relationships and potential collaborations.


Keynote Address: Erie Wobser, CEO of the Greater Sandusky Partnership, shared insights and perspectives on economic development trends and opportunities in the region.

Community Engagement: The event highlighted the importance of community involvement and the symbiotic relationship between economic growth and social well-being.
