The Forest Moves to Former Pier 1

The Forest Sandusky, a medical marijuana dispensary has announced plans to relocate from Tiffin Ave in Sandusky to 5020 Milan Rd (Former Pier 1). This relocation provides the business with increased space, high traffic, and closer proximity to RT-2. The company has produced a press release that can be seen below.

The medical marijuana industry has grown substantially since its inception in 2019. Medical marijuana purchases in Ohio are subject to a 5.75% state sales tax and local county taxes such as Erie County with a 1% sales tax. Since becoming available, the states total sales have climbed to over $1 billion dollars. The Ohio State University report cites that in 2021 the Ohio Department of Taxation collected almost $19 million in tax revenue. Additional revenue for the state includes licensing fees and patients/caregivers which total over $40 million. Press Release

The Forest Sandusky, the first medical marijuana dispensary in Ohio to serve patients in 2019 at the program’s inception, has announced they are moving the dispensary to a new, larger location.

The Forest will be moving from their Tiffin Avenue address to 5020 Milan Road, the former site of Pier One Imports located just off of the highway at exit 250 in Sandusky.

“We’ve had the privilege of serving the patients of the Sandusky community for four years now, and we’re thrilled to be able to now do that in what will be one of the largest dispensaries in the state. Patients can expect the same great customer service they’ve come to appreciate from our employees, just in a bigger more comfortable space," said Emily Davenport, General Manager of The Forest.

Although larger, and with a few upgrades from lessons learned, the new location will maintain the same vibe and aesthetic as the original dispensary- one that offers patients a comfortable, inviting, and altogether enjoyable shopping experience. "Our mission as an organization has always been to improve quality of life through safe and easy access to cannabis," said Mac Amin, Director of Retail. “Being closer to the center of Sandusky, and just off of the highway, serves that mission directly because it means patients will have a much easier time getting their medicine.”

As customer service and experience is a primary focus for Forest employees, The Forest team hopes that this new location will not only provide easier access for patients, but also shorter wait times and an opportunity to provide an expanded selection of products. “It’s important to us that patients can get the products they need, and that means we have to have the space to carry them. We can really do that now with the new building, and we are looking forward to our patients having a more expanded selection of the highest quality medications that Ohio has to offer.”- Emily Davenport, General Manager of The Forest.

The dispensary will be open Monday-Saturday from 9 AM – 7PM, and they will be open on Sundays from 10AM- 5PM. To learn about the dispensary or the program, you can follow on Instagram and Facebook or reach out to a Forest employee at sandusky@theforest.com or (419) 405-6863. The Forest will be closed for moving Saturday 3/18 thru Monday 3/20 with plans to reopen later in the week.
