25 SANDUSKY AREA MINORITY-OWNED BUSINESSES RECEIVE AWARD
Sandusky's Minority Business Empowerment Team (MBET) has found that studies show that minority business owners have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic-linked economic downturn. Minority-owned businesses were more likely to be in difficult financial positions prior to the pandemic, were more likely to close due to the pandemic, and were less likely to be able to access business relief programs. MBET teamed up with Erie County organizations including the Regional Incubator for Sustainability and Entrepreneurship (RISE) to address these aggregate barriers with a minority business recovery grant.
After completing a competitive application process, the following 25 businesses were selected to receive a $2,000 grant to aid in the recovery and rebuilding of their businesses:
